A friend emailed me this link. It is a blog entry written by a former lesbian now active LDS member. I found it insightful and offer it for you to read as well.

It sounds like she was pretty much always an active LDS member. I'd like to point out that she recognizes that not everyone can overcome their same sex attractions.
Actually, she hadn't been to church in years. She had no idea who her bishop was when she decided to speak with him after her break-up. She said that in her experience some people gave up trying to overcome their same-sex attraction and others hadn't developed an attraction to the opposite sex yet. She did not claim that there is anyone that CAN'T overcome their same sex attractions.
Ok, so I didn't mean active; I meant that she still believed in the church the entire time. She does note this "Some people, no matter what they do or how hard they try, will never find
themselves attracted to the opposite sex, in this life." To me, that suggests she believes that there are people who will never be able to fully overcome their same sex attractions.
Ah. Got it.
